Bernadette Wolbring is a visual artist whose practice revolves around the political potential of abstraction, gender classification, and the impact of cultural notions on medical decisions.

To aim at an alternative aesthetic that allows for a more open reading, Wolbring probes how abstraction is used in the fields of medicine, pedagogy and data visualization: from claiming scientific authority to simplifying complex correlations. Currently, she is collaborating with a choreographer, a behavioral endocrinologist, and a social psychologist on a series of performative acts on social behavior in the pharmaco-pornographic era.

Recently, her work was shown at Corner College (Zurich), Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation (Stockholm), and Appleton (Lisbon).
